Blog 10 - Interview 2 Reflection

1. Please explain how you are spending your mentorship time (Is it at a workplace or somewhere else?  Are you shadowing?  Are you able to do tasks that are meaningfully related to the topic?  If so, what?  Are there other people who are experts in the location?  Etc...)

For my mentorship I am shadowing my uncle. I am not really able to do the taks that are meaningful relating to the topic because of the fact that their job is based off of commission so if I messed up it would cost them money. There are other people that are experts as a loan officer such as my aunt who does loans for automobiles.

2.  How did you find your mentor?  How did you convince this person to help you?

I found my mentor because he was my uncle and what convinced him to help me was the fact that I was fascinated about his job and wanted to learn more and possibly become a loan officer one day.

3. How would you rate your comfort level with your mentor at this point in your relationship?  How does this relate to the time you've spent so far at mentorship/with this person

My comfort level with my mentor is good because of the fact that I've known him since I was little. This relates to a better mentoring experience because he'll go more in depth on certain aspects of being a loan officer.

4. What went well in this interview?  Why do you think so?  What do you still need to improve?  How do you know?  How will you go about it?

What went well with the interview was the fact that I got a lot of good information and responses from my mentor. I will use this information to help me throughout the senior project and hopefully be able to talk about it in my lesson.

Blog 9: Advisory House 3

1. State whether or not you currently have a mentor, and what the status of your interview is with that person (I have completed the interview, I have scheduled the interview, I have not scheduled the interview, etc).

I do have a mentor and I am planning on interviewing my mentor this weekend.

2. At this point, your research is probably guiding your studies toward more specific areas within your topic.  Name the area or two you find most promising and explain your reasons.

One area that I'm finding most promising is the characteristics that make up a successful Loan Officer. I reason I choose this is because even though someone can have a job it takes a special quality or habits in order to be good at their job or successful in it.

3. What kinds of sources do you think will help you in the next month to gain more research depth?  Where will you go to get them?

Some sources that I think will help me get more in depth with my research are books about successful loan officers. I will be able to get them hopefully online or at a library

4. Write down a possible EQ.  Please don't worry about wording other than ensuring that it provides the option for multiple correct answers.  At this point, the senior team is most interested in understanding your thought process.

Blog 8: Independent Component 1 Proposal

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
For my 30 hours towards my independent component, I plan on mentoring for an extra 30 hours with my mentor. I will be going over different  parts and processes of the loan as well as going over documents needed to produce the loan.

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
What I will do to show the 30 hours I have done is by bringing volunteer hour papers with me and getting them signed by my mentor.

3.  Explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
What I will be doing in order to explore our topic more is to look at all the different documents needed to create the loan as well as go over different client's loans and the processes each one of them are in.

4.  Update your Senior Project Hours log.
